Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has stepped up preparations to protect children from the Covid infection and has ordered special arrangements from hospitals along the ICU lines to ensure first-class treatment.
Soon, children’s beds by all means known as PICU will become functional in hospitals of all metropolitan cities, including Lucknow, to protect children from the deadly Coronavirus.
The government spokesman said the prime minister has issued instructions to set up at least 100 children’s beds in each district.
Salman Khan, a pediatrician at Dufferin Hospital in Lucknow, said the Yogi government’s decision to set up 50-100 children’s beds in all major cities would prove very effective in treating children.
He stated that all facilities are provided in PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) for children over one month old, NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) for children under one month and SNCU (Sick Newborn care Unit) – located in maternity hospitals.
These beds are small in size and have a railing on the sides. Severely infected children receive treatment and oxygen.
The Prime Minister has already said that assistance will be provided by ex-servicemen, retired officers, if necessary. He also said that students undergoing medical training can train and give teleconsultation to the patients.
