The village of Oriskany comes together to support a young mother suffering from cancer and her children

ORISKANY, NY – You often see it happening in small communities. Family, friends, even complete strangers, come together to support one of them.

On Sunday, the village of Oriskany gathered in the Oriskany Legion for a benefit and to support Jordyn Ramsey, a young mother suffering from cancer, and her two children aged 7 and 4.

There were over 30 raffle baskets, plenty of food, live music, clowns and even a bouncy castle for the kids.

At age 29, Jordyn was diagnosed with stage 4 sarcoma. Unfortunately, her cancer is very aggressive and unresponsive to treatment, but thanks to the Oriskany community, Jordyn and her family can forget about the hard times they face for one day.

“It’s overwhelming to see how many people came to support me and my little family,” says Ramsey. “It’s things like this that distract my mind from the day-to-day things I have to think about because of my diagnosis. So it’s good to be with all these people and just be happy and just enjoy a nice sunny day with all these people.”

If you’d like to make a donation to help Jordyn and her family, a Venmo account under @Amanda-Detrick has been created for them.
