MEMPHIS, Tenn., Jun. 21, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — On the week of June 21, Disney Animation Studios will be celebrating the release of its movie “Raya and the Last Dragon” by partnering with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® to help disseminate joy through a series of virtual events for St. Jude patient families and his generous supporters.
“Raya and the Last Dragon” is an epic journey into the fantasy world of Kumandra, where Raya discovers that it takes more than a dragon to save the world. It takes trust and teamwork – timeless themes reflected in the groundbreaking research and life-saving treatment delivered at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital for children with childhood cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Actress Kelly Marie Tran, who voices the warrior princess Raya, will deliver a video message on Monday, June 21, prior to a special reading of the story. Walt Disney Animation Studios Supervising Animator Brian Menzo will conduct an exclusive virtual session on Tuesday, June 22 to teach attendees and viewers how to draw the Disney character Tuk Tuk. Menz will be joined by St. Jude patient Maelin-Kate and other influencers defending the St. Jude mission. St. Jude patient Tayde will host a Facebook Live art session on Thursday, June 24 for anyone to participate. Disney has handed out DVD gifts of the film to all St. Jude patients and their families currently undergoing treatment, along with printable activity sheets for them to access throughout the week.
