September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month! KPRC 2 going gold in Fight 2 End Pediatric Cancer

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month and KPRC 2 goes gold to raise awareness in our Fight 2 End Pediatric Cancer campaign, along with our partners at Texas Children’s Hospital.

According to the American Cancer Society, about 10,500 children in the United States under the age of 15 will be diagnosed with cancer this year alone. Recent decades have brought promising treatments and advances in the fight against childhood cancer that have improved outcomes and saved lives. Still, by 2021, more than 1,000 families could experience the loss of a child to cancer.

Until there is a cure for every cancer at every stage, young patients must face a terrifying battle alongside their parents, siblings, family and friends. There is so much more to accomplish, and until we beat childhood cancer once and for all, awareness and research funding can help doctors continue to make life-saving progress. For a family battling cancer with their child, it can be an opportunity for their child to graduate from kindergarten, high school, and ultimately a chance for their child to grow up and start a family of their own. to found.
