Pediatrician talks about why we’re seeing surge in COVID-19 cases among children

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — As the number of childhood COVID-19 cases rises, the Louisiana Health Department (LDH) on Friday, Sept. 17, confirmed the sixth pediatric death from COVID-19 in the state.

The death is part of the fourth wave of the virus in the state, largely caused by the Delta variant. More than 240,000 pediatric COVID-19 cases were reported in the United States between September 2 and 9, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Tonight on News 12, hear from a pediatrician in Shreveport about why we are seeing this increase in children and what can be done to protect them.
