KI SAWYER, Michigan (WLUC) — Golfers knocked off a tee Friday afternoon in support of children with diabetes.
The Superior Health Foundation held its 9th Annual Golf Scramble at the Red Fox Run Golf Course.
Executive Director, Jim LaJoie, said there were 16 silent auction prices available for golfers to bid on.
Every year they donate to a health-oriented partner. This year it is Camp UP Peninsulin.
“They’re going to get over $5,000 in funding here today to help them with supplies and insulin and things like that to make sure they have a successful camp,” LaJoie said.
The organization is organizing a summer camp for children with type 1 diabetes at the end of July.
“We can do different activities to show the kids that even you are diabetic. We can play paint tag and kickball,” said RN and diabetes educator Chris Alderton.
After a game of golf, the foundation had a program and a Putting competition where someone had a chance to win $2,500.
