New St. Jude Children’s Hospital doctor was once a cancer patient there

ST. LOUIS – The St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway officially kicked off Thursday morning.

And your participation is needed in this effort to help save young lives suffering from childhood cancer.

Donate $100 for a chance to win a $600,000 home in Dardenne Prairie, Missouri.

dr. Maggie Cupit-Link will begin medicine next month at St. Jude Children’s Hospital, where she was once a patient.

Cupit-Link was diagnosed with a type of bone cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma at age 19. She had a tumor in her leg. When she was diagnosed, she was a freshman pre-med student at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, and was actually hired to do research in St. Jude, where she was a patient at the time.

Cupit-Link said her experience with cancer has taught her a lot about empathy and is looking forward to treating childhood cancer patients.
