Bellator fighter and former BKFC Champion Bec Rawlings no longer has to worry about pushing her out of her eyes during training sessions after shaving her head for charity.
The 32-year-old fighter recently launched a campaign for children with cancer after the deadly disease hit close to home after her own father was diagnosed with liver cancer.
In response, Rawlings decides to raise money for charity and then shave her head at the end of the campaign, which took place late last week.
“I shave my head not only because I get it in the eye during training, but also because my dad was recently diagnosed with liver cancer and I figured out what a better way to raise awareness and raise some money for a some great medical research facilities in Tasmania. & Camp Quality that helps children and families affected by cancer, ”Rawlings wrote at the launch of the campaign. “My hair will come off on May 1st, so dig deep and let’s raise some money and say fuck you to cancer!”
At the end of her campaign, Rawlings had raised more than $ 3,000 for Camp Quality and then fulfilled her promise to get those locks off.
“Annnnnnd here it is,” Rawlings said as she showed off her new haircut. “We raised $ 3,735, thank everyone who donated or supported this amazing cause! You can still donate if you wish. “
After a run in the UFC that began as part of the cast of The Ultimate Fighter season 20, Rawlings eventually left the promotion and became champion after switching to bare knuckles. Rawlings then returned to mixed martial arts after negotiating an exclusive deal with Bellator MMA, where she currently holds a 1-1 record with the promotion.
Thanks largely to the pandemic, Rawlings has not had a chance to participate since February 2020, but she remains in training waiting for the call to return her to the cage.
