BBQ fundraiser raises money for Northland woman’s fight against cancer

Elizabeth Johnson, a stay-at-home mother of three young children and wife to her husband, is battling stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, whose treatments aren’t covered by insurance.

When Tig of Tig’s BBQ heard about it, he felt he had to do something and the community was there to help.

“The turnout was absolutely phenomenal,” said Tig, owner of the store. “We opened at noon and we had a line at 11:30 am. It feels great to have so many people from the community coming to help someone they don’t even know – just to help another person.”

A GoFundMe has been set up for the Johnson family for those who want to contribute.
